BISHOP OF HEXEN • english • deutsch

"Bishop of Hexen" was formed in late 1994, early 1995 in Ramat-Hasharon, Israel. After a few line-up changes, the band started working on its material, in a more intensive and professional direction and form. In December 1995, "Bishop of Hexen" entered the studios to record its debut demo tape "Ancient Hymns of Legends & Lore". The demo tape got extremely good response from the world wide underground metal scene, and all copies were completely sold out. Numerous record labels where interested in signing the band for a record deal and finally "Bishop of Hexen" signed with "HammerHeart Productions" for one full length album opus. 1997 the full length album "Archives of an Enchanted Philosophy" was banned on CD. This release presents 8 tracks of the most emotional, atmospheric and melodic black-metal art ever released. After a break of seven years "Bishop of Hexen" was formed once again, featuring 2 new band members: Lord Koder (vocals) and Ariel.E (guitars). During June 2004, "Bishop of Hexen" recorded a promo CD, entitled "Unveil the Curtain of Sanity". The promo contained 4 new tracks of Atmospheric Melodic Black-Metal in its highest degree. The promo was released for promotional purposes only and was highly appraised by record labels and magazines around the metal scene. In early 2005, "Bishop of Hexen" has signed a three-album deal with the Austrian metal label CCP-Records and Seelenfolter (bass) joined the band. The lyrics portrait approach to the bible, which has an abundance of small daily life drama stories entwined between the epic saga - the saga of the battle between good evil and the unknown, still lingers on. The band told us about their literary passions: "The majority of the people around the world has read the bible in translations and not in the original language - Hebrew, as we did. And when you read the original words you find different coded meanings that can reflect in our daily dirge on this ever turning pain-planet of ours. Mankind conceives the bible as being "godly" in every aspect whereas there are footmarks of the "unholy" evident in almost every passage. The "unholy" is not the medieval cloven hoofed horned beast, It has not gills or fangs nor a human form as the Christian church made people believe for centuries, but it manifests itself in a far more familiar place...our mind and soul! Whilst our mundane dirge lingers, night by night, breath by breath, we generate good and evil thoughts and every day evil and dark decisions can conquer our minds and mostly, it does. Thus, we are Satan from time to time. Each song captures a different aspect of the internal turmoil in which we all wallow, but what lies beneath our curtain of sanity?"
