XIV DARK CENTIRIES

Biography

XIV D.C. was founded in the year 1998, as a former existing metal band changed it’s line-up an it’s name after a work of nearly 5 years. The music they played was a form of dark/ black metal with a lot of own ideas influenced by gothic and heavy metal.
Since 1999 till 2000 many songs were written and recorded. This songs were released on two demos. At this time the band played many concerts with bands like Adorned Brood, Eisregen, Menhir, Die Apokalyptischen Reiter, Odroerir, Mourning Ends and on the PartySan Open Air also with Scandinavian bands like Fintroll, Amon Amarth and Necrophobic.
At the time we felled a deep attachment to our nature especially to our Thuringian Forest, but never we could identify with the monotheistic religions, so we came more and more to the paganism. The way of pagan metal increasing came to our music and also to the lyrics. After another change in the line-up the work of writing the songs was more and more made by the guitarists. The guitars play a significant role in the music now. The voice is working with black/ death metal grinds and tells stories and myths of our forefathers, which lived the old way of life with the old gods in their heart. The time we tell our stories is between the procession of Kimbers and Teutons (German tribes) till the fall of „Donareiche“ (oak of Thor). But we aren’t story tellers. We would like to remember our forefathers, because the memory of our ancestors is lost in the mind of the peaple nowadys. We like to create the music, that comes out of our heart. Heathen Thuringian Metal is an own creation to find an own place with the music we play. The new CD „...den Ahnen zum Grusse...“ (Hail to our Ancestors) is one outcome and the attachment to our mother earth. Powerful rhythm guitars and drumming is the base of our music. Acoustic guitars and melodies of the lead guitars give our music it’s own touch. The mystic of our majestic keyboard is a very important point of atmosphere in our music. Listen to the heathen choir of Asgard and the hateful voice of the worriors!
