Two years after their album „Encyclopaedia Infernalis“ Grabak are back from the liars of the serpent. If one looks at the musical concept of the former album a strict continuation is quite obvious. So the new record “The Serpent within paradise” brings forth the duality of guitars and distorted bass guitar. In terms of sound and riffing the new songs are much more varied and eventful. The vocal line fits perfectly in the track’s harmonies and shows the same kind of variety by deep growls and a high screaming voice.
Whereas the concept of “Encyclopaedia“ was sort of dogmatic in terms of lyrics and music the new material seems to be free of all deadwood and useless structures.
If one looks for the reasons for this development one as to point out the well working partnership to CCP records, the maturity of the band members as well as the perfect line up. For now three years the band consists of Recke (dist. bass guitar), Christian ( guitars) , Gabor (bass guitar), Dirk (drums) and Jan (vocals). One might say the band as a whole grew up in these years.
The new album “ The Serpent within Paradise” seems to reflect a step back to the band’s roots. Grabak’s third record represents the band as a part of the black metal scene without limitations in music and mind.
Like snake poison 10 songs of destruction run through the hearer’s body and cause their subtle effects.
In 2003 Grabak are back with the serpent’s heritage in their veins.
